FAQs

Questions we get asked the most.

Can’t find your question here? Feel free to contact us and we’ll help you out.

What type of wood do I choose?

Pine: Soft wood, lights easily, quick burning.
Macrocarpa: Medium density, slow burning, mix with pine.
Gum: Harder wood, burns for longer, produces more heat.

What size load do I need?

An average household of four uses anywhere from 7m3 right up to 10m3 depending on the wood and how often you light the fire. We recommend ordering a mix of Pine and Bluegum for best value for money. Pine for starting the fire, and Bluegum for getting maximum burn time and heat output.

Can I pick up to save on delivery costs?

Yes, by appointment only. Minimum delivery time is 48 hours.

Can I order my firewood in summer?

Yes! Firewood can be ordered all year round. Please let us know if it’s to burn over summer, or if you’re ordering ahead of the winter months. Order freshly split or semi-seasoned wood in early summer outside of firewood season, and the wood will be ready to burn when winter rolls in. Wood purchased in summer is not seasoned unless specifically requested.

Is your firewood seasoned?

Our firewood is seasoned all year round in 1.2 steel crates stored on site.

How do I stack and store your firewood?

Stack your wood in an open ended wood shed, carport, or similar where there is good air flow, but the wood is sheltered from the rain. If your wood gets wet in light rain, it will dry back out easily in a few days.

How do I light a fire?

What you’ll need: Matches or a lighter, small twigs, kindling, black and white newspaper.

Start with a flat next of small twigs and kindling over some bunched up newspaper. It may help to screw newspaper up like sticks.

Place two large pieces of Pine on the top of the kindling and newspaper. Place newspaper between the two logs and layer kindling on top of the larger logs like you’re setting up a Jenga game. This increases air flow and enables the fire to be easily relit if doesn’t light first time.

Light the fire with some safety matches or a lighter in as many places you can reach safely and close the door to the fire leaving a small gap for airflow. Don’t add large pieces of wood to the fire too early until it is well lit. After 15 minutes, add a longer burning wood such as Macrocarpa or Bluegum to slow the burn but increase heat output.
